I don't believe an AI would have the need for a merkin, so my vote is that Smillew is real.

There will never be an AI capable of emulating a May More 💜 Tales, a Paul Mansfield, or a Rocky Shores, or an Emily (Little Miss Right Now), or a Zatanna Dark or a Sonja Glucksberg, or any of our other incredible writers. (I suspect Smillew Rahcuef and Grandma Smillew to be AIs, though. They have to be.)
